| Short Description |
The mutant variety Fermer was officialy approved in 2009. It was developed by gamma irradiation (50 Gy) of dry seeds of the cultivar Pobeda. Fermer belongs to the Group B - medium to high power wheat, suitable for self-baking of bread wheat. It is considered as a significant breeding achievement in Bulgaria due to its: stable, high productivity; excellent drought and cold tolerance (ranked as the highest cold tolerance) and resistance to the brown rust (race 10R). As such it is suitable for cultivation in various ecological environments. It attains basic yield with limited input of nitrogen and produces more grains with an in increase nitrogen input, which makes it economically effective and suitable for low input agriculture. |
